What happens when you get a visit from Wonder Woman, Super Man and a dozen 80’s television stars? Constant good humour and a fortnight which floated by in a haze of smiles, and finished draped in a pod of upturned moustaches. No manner of sun burn, fatigue, stiffness, bruising or late nights could pull the reins in. Classic Brazil as we’ve all come to expect, impossibly good conditions, steady reliable wind, great food, casual vibe, group motivation and only a few challenges: What size (same as yesterday), what time, maracuja, limao or Original? Ok there’s admittedly a bit more going on behind the scenes but you get the picture. Remote working at its best perhaps? On the water was eventful, fruitful and inspiring. We had more carving than a Sunday lunchtime at a Toby, twin tips, surfboards, funny hybrid things and the occasional soaked bystander. Beautiful toe sides were on constant display, roosters were out in force, first airs and jump transitions in the bag. Back rolls and boners (sorry, tweaked jumps) aplenty! One foots, board offs, inverts, oles, kite loops – or muerte, tacking, double backs, claims worthy of a WSL title. Speaking of which we had Kelly spray, stunt ramps, down winders, surfboard captains and aerial pilots, with a few splashes along the way, the ‘occasional’ wipeout and a gaggle of marshmallow landings. Suffice to say there are a lot of good memories of people, places and smiley faces. Mais um por favor!!!
